U3A Torrevieja

University of the Third Age (U3A) is
"A self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.  It consists of local U3As all over the UK, which are charities in their own right and are run entirely by volunteers.  Local U3As are learning cooperatives which draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their own members to organise and provide interest groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership."

I took the above from their UK web site although it is now much wider spread and exists in Spain as well as other countries. I recently joined my local group having attended as a guest in the past. I was delighted to see the new Leisure Time magazine being distributed at last Mondays monthly meeting. Hopefully future editions will contain some of my articles and photos.

If you wanted to check out U3A just google it - this year is their 30th anniversary in the UK

Leisure Time magazine

Following on from an earlier post I have now met the man behind our new local magazine, Leisure Time, and some of my pieces will start appearing both on their web site and in the magazine.

This from their web site:
"Leisure Time is a monthly guide  on  the Southern Costa Blanca, where you will lots of the useful information for the whole family. It consists of  local and tourism information, solicitor advice,  a variety of sport and cultural events, to help encourage all our readers to participate in many of  the activities which take place in this region.
Each month you will have an opportunity to discover  amazing Spanish cities and places of interest, for giving new  ideas for your next getaways."

If you don't see a (free) hardcopy you can always download it by clicking on the image on their home page.

I would be pleased to receive your comments and suggestions for content etc.

My Andalucia.com

I have just posted 2 of my published articles on the my.andalucia.com site which promotes articles and books about the Andalucia province.

Having enjoyed so much my visits to Frigiliana and one of Jaen's natural parks last year I thought they would make good articles for the site.

If you are interested they are available here:

New Magazine

I am currently in discussion with the editor of a new local magazine which has recently been launched. Perhaps this is a sign of the financial situation starting to ease? Anyway I hope to have a firm announcement early next week.

In the meantime I have just submitted my articles for the April edition of TIM and my sales of my Kindle eBook 'Spain Exposed' are quietly growing. Please post a review if you have read it either on Amazon or on my web site.

Soon be time to pack my bag and disappear to Blighty for a week to meet up with a couple of published authors and do some walking around the Shropshire area so I hope the UK is in a dry and sunny mood.

Spain Exposed

Just found out that an author with 12 published books to his credit has downloaded 'Spain Exposed' - my first Kindle eBook.

Hopefully he will post a review, so I wait with bated breath to see what a professional makes of my attempts.

In the meantime sales are in double figures and so my Kindle account is in credit. There are sales showing on both Amazon UK and .com sites - so can I call myself an 'International Author' ?

If you feel like making a small investment (1,98 UK pds, $3.53 or 2,68€) it is available across all Amazon (.co.uk, .com. .es) sites and of course you can then have your say!

As Oscar Wilde once said
"There is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about"

The Legal Page - TIM March

I have started a new feature page - The Legal Page in conjunction with Pellicer & Heredia, solicitors with offices throughout Alicante province. This month's topic is the new Driving Licence law, important for all Expats resident in Spain. (See Page 8)
Also on Page 28 is the Book Review page compiled by myself and a guest reviewer.

Yesterday I was in Alicante for a presentation by the Royal British Legion to Pellicer & Heredia of a painting which they had successfully bid for in an RBL fund raising auction. There will be a short report in the April TIM.

As usual if you cannot obtain a copy of TIM it can be be viewed and or downloaded from here or the TIM site here
