Yesterday was time for the fortnightly online conference for the Writers Abroad group.
Amongst the packed agenda was the item of new member applications. Now we have our online site the group is open for other Expat writers to join us.
There have been a number of people interested in joining our group which currently consists of 9 women and yours truly. However none of the potential 'Newbies' are male!
So come on you male Expats don't be shy - they don't bite (well not often!) Take at look at our new site and if you want to help balance the sexes up a bit - contact Jo
But if you are female don't be put off either - I will do my best to continue representing the male Expat writers of the world!

Research - all part of a writer's life
I am currently researching for an article on 'Expat ID cards'
By attempting to contact an EU citizen Expat now residing in each of the 27 countries within the EU.
I was able to enrol some of my 'Writers Abroad' expat associates but now my focus is on the other EU countries where I do not have a WA colleague.
To help me I am using Expat sites and blogs to establish contact with others all over the EU and inviting them to complete my short survey questionnaire. This is going to take some time but I am looking forward to collating the results.
In the meantime I had an informative reply to my query regarding the UK ID card project from the Identiy and Passport Service, UK.

This amazing magazine goes from strength to strength and the latest edition includes my tale of mystery and intrigue entitled:
'Fatal Bedtime Drink'
It has now switched to bi-monthly and carries a few adverts relevant to the world of writing.

Words with Jam Magazine
I have mentioned the new online magazine - Words with Jam previously on this blog.
I was pleased to receive an acceptance from WWJ for my satirical piece entitled:
'The Good Samaritan'
which will be published in the March edition.
Based on the parable it takes a look at the current financial worldwide crisis and hopefully will amuse the readers. My 'trial' audience have commented favorably.
The original idea was given to me by my writing buddy, John Bishop, who was too busy with his other projects to develop the idea.

Writers Abroad Goes Live
For the last few months I have been involved with a new group of Expat writers living around the globe -
Writers Abroad
We decided to use the Ning platform on which to build our group site and blog.
The site has now gone live and we invite anyone to visit and Expats may like to consider joining.
"A place where Expat writers can connect, where ever you may be. Somewhere to share and somewhere to develop your craft."
