Another year ends…
So this is Christmas, And what have you done, another year over….
My first full year of trying to/being – be/a writer so here is my brief review of the highs and lows:
I had many letters published in newspapers and magazines the highlights being 2 star letters in 'Place in the Sun' and 'Writing Magazine' for which I received Cava and the Writers Year Book
Seeing your first article published is a real thrill and that happened in March with 'Tranquillity with Vultures' which I guess was really a review of a walking holiday – followed by many other articles being published in The Inland Magazine (thanks guys!) covering some Natural Parks (with my photos), Volvo Ocean Race, Classic Cars, AVE (train) and some hopefully useful information articles on SUMA, DWP etc.
I also reviewed Bryan Adams Rock Concert, travel to Madrid, and started my own page: Rob's Bits and Bobs
The Siesta Time and Expat Spain also took some of my work.
Yes there were the rejections – notably from The Oldie (twice) so this remains an unfulfilled ambition – perhaps next year………..
I have also been reading manuscripts for Libros International and have met some of their authors and right at the end of the year I was invited to become the 1st editor of the new Writers Bureau student ezine – an exciting project for 2009. Also in the pipeline is a book to be co-edited with a writing colleague – more later.
So all in all an interesting year – and I hope I can carry on building up the portfolio in 2009 – thanks to all my publishers, readers and writing colleagues – Happy New Year to you all.
