CAMPEONES........

Well the Spanish managed what we have sometimes failed to do - beat the Germans!! It was the right result - Spain have been unbeaten, scored 12 goals, only conceded 3 and won a penalty shoot out - what a 3 weeks we have had!! Last night the centre of Torrevieja was a sea of red football shirted, flag waving very noisy happy people!

What an incredible display of great football - great passing, great finishing - no dirty tactics or time wasting - on this performance Spain deserve to be champions.

What a party to celebrate the win!!! .........read more:

Penalty shoot out win

It was a late noisy night as the Spanish went through against the Italians on penalties - Fabregas scored the winning penalty which sent the town crazy with cars and motor bikes racing around sounding their horns and waving the Spanish flag. Now we wait for Thursdays semi final against the Russians - the passion is rising as is the temperature! My expat blog features the big win................. http://www.thexpat.com/blog/category/rob-innis/

I am warming up!

Yes at long last the sun has started to shine reliably here (Costa Blanca) at last! It must be making the sparrows hungry because they are still in the Fig Tree sorry but to fully understand that comment please visit:

I read this blog to the Torrevieja Writers Circle this morning and it was greeted with much amusement and positive feedback including

`Your writing is getting warmer´ which is praise indeed (they can be a tough lot to please and blogs are still a bit socially unacceptable in published writers circles)but I don't care - we live in a brave new world!

Topicality paid off - this time

Having had a rejection (see below) for being to topical it seems that my Expat Spain blog this week has hit the spot - I had a positive comment from a reader and an offer from the editor to include the content in next months magazine.

Goes to show using a naughty word sometimes pays off

Check it out

Euro 2008 Kick off this weekend

The major European football tournament, joint-hosted by Switzerland and Austria, kicks off this weekend. Guess who is missing - all of the GB countries - but Spain have high hopes of success this time and most Expats will be cheering on their adopted country.
